Losing your teeth can sometimes place a burden on your self-confidence. Missing or extracted teeth can raise concerns of infection, but permanent solution are available today with implant restoration: PFM or Zirconia.
Anytime you lose a tooth, it’s much more than alone a tooth. You also end up losing bone, ligaments and nerves. When all this is lost, the tooth support area slowly begins to deteriorate. A dental implant replaces the entire missing structure with a metal post, which is usually made up of metal titanium. After few months, new bone will grow around the implanted metal post. Once it has been embedded properly, a crown is screwed on top of this metal implant and fixated firmly. An important prerequisite before getting implants is to get a comprehensive set of detailed digital x-rays and diagnostic planning. This determines the most feasible option for the implant treatment.
For implant-supported crowns and bridges, like implant PFM or zirconia here is an overview of the process:
· In an initial surgery, your doctor will place the implants within the jawbone.
· Over the next several months, the implants will bond more closely with the bone in your jaw, giving them greater strength and stability.
· In a second procedure, your doctor will expose the implants. A few weeks later, the doctor will attach metal posts (abutments) to the implants and take an impression of your gums. You will also receive temporary crowns or a temporary bridge.
· Our lab will use the impression to fabricate your permanent crown or bridge.
